Empowering People to Live Independently Through Person-Centred Support and Community-Based Living

We are proud to provide specialist support to people with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. In each of our community-based properties, people with Down syndrome can make lasting friendships and learn new skills all while gaining greater independence.

In our dynamic and inclusive homes, we foster a friendly, warm and welcoming environment that encourages independence and living life to the full. Every week we offer a full spectrum of engaging services and activities tailored to the needs and capabilities of each individual.

We recognise that many people with Down syndrome have overlapping challenges and health care needs, so we tailor the support we provide to each individual accordingly. We work with each individual and their families to find a home that fully reflects their needs and wishes.

Our Residential and Supported Living Services

We provide 24/7 support and specialist care within our residential and supported living services. Since we support a wide range of ages and abilities, each of our housing solutions is unique. We believe that with the right support in place, every individual can achieve positive outcomes and enjoy as much independence as possible.

In each of our inclusive homes, we empower people to build confidence and grow their social, vocational and life skills. Our approach is guided by the principles of “person-centredness”. This means the support we provide is always based on the specific needs and wishes of each person we support.

We provide person-centred home care that supports you to live independently.

People with Down’s syndrome are able to live a life full of joy and contentment with either a little or a lot of extra support, and with care from Helping Hands, we can ensure that you get exactly the right level of care you need to feel completely fulfilled.

Whether you need live-in care or regular visits from our local home care teams, we have the skills and expertise to develop a personalised care plan that fits your needs, routines and wishes.

We will work with you and your family to find out exactly what you need assistance with so that everything is tailor-made for you.

Here are some of the many ways a carer can support you:

People with Down’s syndrome can be more susceptible to certain health conditions. If you have regular medical appointments, we can fully support you and accompany you to them if you require.

Our carers will also work closely with Speech and Language Therapists or Occupational Therapists who are involved in maintaining your care, so that your health and well-being are always prioritised.

For some people living with Down’s syndrome, going to work is an important part of their routine. A carer can help you commute, as well as ensuring you’re ready for work each day.

With the support of a carer, you can make the most of your time at school or college by ensuring you receive all the support you need to focus on your studies and personal development.
